The Boats

Hyde DriftboatThroughout the season Captain LaSorte uses two drift boats, depending on the river being fished and the conditions. The boats are stocked with modern safety equipment, along with all the paraphernalia necessary to a successful angling outing.

For most of the season on the Delaware, Adrian uses a Hyde low-profile driftboat. The boat is replaced annually, and is maintained in immaculate condition. The low profile enables flyfishers to enter and exit the boat with ease, while the overall design of the Hyde boat makes it one of the safest and most stable crafts afloat.

Anglers in front and rear are seated on well-cushioned pedestal seats, with firm back supports. Casting stations are used fore and aft, giving anglers a solid platform for casting and catching.

When conditions warrant it (and always on the Salmon River), Adrian uses a Mackenzie-style aluminum drift board made by Smokercraft. Like the Hyde, the boat is fully equipped and outfitted with the latest in safety equipment.
Both boats are flyfishing machines, designed to provide flyfishers the ultimate in stable casting platforms as well the ability to get to fish in virtually any kind of water. And, they are built for comfort and long days and evenings on the river.

Flats fishing in the Florida Keys requires a high performance shallow draf t vessle called a flats boat. I have a 2002 Maverick Mirrage 17ft with a 90hp Yamaha marine engine. This boat allows me to pole and run in very shallow water conditions. Also available with the boat there is a casting platform provided, for unsteady conditions.
